Established in 2019, Jet Dance is owned and run by principal Jenn Francis who has been at the forefront of dance teaching in Solihull and beyond for the last 15 years.
All of our instructors are fully qualified in freestyle dance and cheerleading, with each instructor also holding additional qualifications in their own areas of interest such as contemporary, commercial, modern jazz, acrobatic arts and musical theatre. Just as important is each instructors passion to inspire our dancers to aim high, help others and reach for the stars.
Jenn and her highly qualified and experienced teaching team love delivering before, during and after school classes in schools across Solihull. For a full timetable of schools and classes on offer please see below. Please note these classes are specifically for students of each school. Details on our open classes, available to all, including our competitive cheerleading squad are also below: see evening and weekend classes.
Jenn's love of dance started with IDTA Freestyle examinations and expanded from there! With every exam ever taken gaining top marks, Honours, it was a natural first step into the dance world to take her professional Associate Freestyle exam with the IDTA, which she passed with top marks! Jenn also holds her Associate Modern Jazz with the International Dance Teachers' Association (IDTA) and loves teaching the diverse range of styles that these qualifications offer: Freestyle, Street, Lyrical Contemporary and Jazz.
Taking her A Level in dance sparked a passion for contemporary choreographers such as Matthew Bourne, Alvin Ailey, Merce Cunningham and Martha Graham. Jenn's love for these incredible practitioners includes watching their works, teaching their techniques but also in understanding their context. If you have questions for your GCSE, A Level or degree standard theory work, drop Jenn an email, she is always happy to share her knowledge with another contemporary dance lover!
Jenn's love of contemporary took her to De Montfort University where she gained her First Class Honours Degree in dance, achieving the highest marks in her year. Her time spent at De Montfort showed her the diverse ways to appreciate dance, she is always happy to have a chat with students or parents who have questions about "where the dance world leads" or "where do we go next?". Following graduation Jenn passed her contemporary qualifications with the National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD) and still enjoys teaching the challenging OfQual Contemporary syllabus to students.
Upon returning from America, Jenn's best friend Toni (Force Dance) encouraged her to sign up to the Level 1 Cheerleading qualification with the NCSSE. The two embarked on the training together and have never looked back! Today the friends hold Level 4 NCSSE, Associate IDTA Cheer Technique, Level 3 BCQ and are members of the British Cheerleading Association (BCA). This means both Jenn and Toni are qualified to safely put students into daring stunts and are experienced in creating diverse and original cheerleading routines. Jet and Force regularly combine to compete in competitions across the country all driven from a shared passion between two friends.
As of 29th October 2019 Jenn is fully trained with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and their contemporary syllabus - practicing what she preaches "never stop training".
